Who is eligible?
Applicants to the Arka Scholarship must be:
- Enrolled full or part-time at an accredited two-year or four-year college, university, or vocational-technical school.
How much is the Award?
There are 3 tiers of awards:
One 1st Place award of $2500
One 2nd Place award of $500
One 3rd Place award of $100
as well as Honorable Mentions on Arka’s website.
What is the selection criteria?
Applicants should write as if their audience is direct to consumer / online merchants and will be judged on how beneficial the content would be to that audience.
Applicants will chose from one or more of the following three (3) categories and submit a 2000 word “blog post” with photos taken of of packaging styles that inspire them:
Packaging Photography: Blog post as well as original pictures about what inspires the applicant with respect to the packaging’s design. Justify with links and brand callouts.
Packaging Design: Blog post as well as pictures of designs from existing brands found online about what inspires the applicant with respect to the packaging’s design. Justify with links and brand callouts.
Packaging Tear Down: Blog post as well as pictures of designs from existing brands found online and/or original photography that cover schematics of packages that have unique structure/dielines. This will speak more to the form and functionality of packaging along with efforts taken towards sustainability. Justify with links and brand callouts.
What format should the blogs be written in?

When will the winner be notified?
Winning applicants will be notified on or before March 31, 2023.
Who is administering the scholarship?
Arka is a startup based in Austin, Texas that serves as a platform for businesses to design and order branded and unbranded packaging online. Arka’s goal is to democratize access to sustainable and eco-friendly packaging for businesses that ship products and is currently integrated with Shopify, BigCommerce, Square, Smile, Ecwid, and ShipBob.
